Papillon Z.
Empowering Women to find their Inner “BADASS!”
(to prevent Sexual Assault, Exploitation, Trafficking, Harassment, Bullying, etc.)
About Us
KAREN GOMEZ
HI. I AM THE FOUNDER OF PAPILLON Z.
I ALSO DESIGNED OUR LOGO, THE STINGING BUTTERFLY. Yes, I borrowed the idea from the famous quote of Muhammad Ali,
“Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee!”
I live with my husband of 43 years. I started my professional career in the legal field over 40 years ago after a traumatic brain injury from an automobile accident during my junior year of college forced me to rethink my plan to work in the medical field to help people. Instead, I eventually became a medical litigation paralegal working primarily with catastrophically injured clients and their families.
After suffering for YEARS from DAILY reminders in the news, online articles, #MeToo, email solicitations from organizations like RAINN, the relentless coverage of predators like Cosby, Weinstein, Nasser, and all of the others …
After I watched a video clip on the news on October 6, 2018, and saw Christine Blasey Ford being mocked and laughed at (after she testified against Brett Kavanaugh), the idea for Papillon Z was “born.” [Same as Dr. Ford. . . I didn’t tell anyone either.]
I founded Papillon Z in November 2018 to empower women to find their “inner badass” so they can learn how to PREVENT SEXUAL ASSAULT! The Stinging Butterfly is meant to be a warning to a potential predator that you ARE a Badass and know moves that are potentially lethal!
But…over the last 3+ years of doing research for the massive amount of Resources on this site, the scope of my Mission and Vision grew exponentially from the Prevention of Sexual Assault, to now include Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Human Sex Trafficking, Sexual Harassment, Bullying, and Child Sexual Abuse/Pornography Online (CSAM), and more, by providing educational information, videos, links, etc. for Women, Teens, Parents, Students, Teachers, Educators, Clergy, and others.
Staying true to my Soul and Spirit of altruism and heartfelt desire to help as many people as possible, I have 30 categories of National Resources now!!! (replacing the original ONE-HALF PAGE of Resources -borrowed from RAINN – for Sexual Assault Survivors). I share links to the Resources when I read a post on social media and I try to encourage people to reach out for help.
Anyone can access the Resources for National Organizations – as well as Hotlines, Safety Tips (Non-Members), and the new page – How to Prevent/Avoid/Escape a Bad Situation! (Tik Tok videos) , and the Self-Defense & Safety Tips Videos (Non-Members- links to YouTube and Tik Tok videos).
I’ve survived at least 2 car accidents that paramedics told me I should not have walked away from. I’ve survived attempted murder several times, Botulism, Carbon Monoxide poisoning, Sepsis twice, electrocution by phone (the doctor told me the next morning that according to my lab work, I should not be alive!)
It truly is a miracle that I am alive, but over the years I’ve come to accept that my life has been spared countless times so I could cross paths with the people I’ve been able to help over the last 40+ years. And, once again, in October 2018, the chills and tingles confirmed that my life was spared so I could help even more people through Papillon Z!
Our organization is brand new!
IT’S TIME TO STEP UP AND JOIN TOGETHER TO STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN.
THE POWER OF CHANGE IS IN OUR HANDS.
